Why leave the front-load washer's door slightly open?

Solution

The Washer Fan Breeze operates at its peak on a front-load washer, when the door is left slightly open as opposed to wide open; however, it is ok to leave your washer door completely open.

We recommned having about an inch or more of air gap between the glass on the door and the closest door gasket.  (You can take a flashlight and look through the glass to see the amount of air gap).

The air exiting the washer moves at a greater velocity through a small opening than it would with the door wide open. The faster exiting of air allows the door gasket to dry more quickly and eliminates another possible source of mold.

If the door on your front load washer wants to swing all the way open, we have a Door Strap Kit available on our Accessories page that will hold your door slightly open.  You may view our Door Strap video on our Video page at WasherFan.com.
